A19 Road Noise Action Group  (A19NAG)
Since the opening of the A19 Billingham Bypass in the early 1980s, there has been an increasing problem of excessive Road Traffic Noise for a large number of properties on Wolviston Court Estate.
Concerned residents have lobbied Stockton Borough Council, The Highways Agency, MPs and Central Government, to get the road resurfaced with quieter materials on many occasions, without success.

As a result of the interest shown in the recently gathered petition, a number of the residents have now formed this Action Group to raise the profile of our campaign, and present a coordinated case to DEFRA in Central Government.

We intend to keep up our protest until promises made by The Highways Agency in 2002 and confirmed by Alistair Darling in 2003, that the A19 concrete section at Billingham, would be resurfaced with quieter materials by 2011, have been honoured.

We have set up this website to keep all interested parties informed of progress and developments.
There will also be hard copies on notice boards in various prominent locations around the estate.

    February 2012

A presentation of A19NAG’s case for the resurfacing of the A19 at Billingham was performed to Billingham Town Council on the 28th of  February.

The presentation was performed by Howard Gill, supported by Barney McLean and Ken Charlton. An enthusiastic reception, and a positive  response was given by BTC. A practical demonstration was also given of noise levels, so the councillors had a better understanding of the   noise being endured by residents of Wolviston Court Estate.

As the result of the presentation, BTC will be formally supporting our campaign and challenging the criteria and validity of FPL(First Priority  Locations for Noise Mitigation measures).

An approach will be made to Stockton Borough Council, requesting a similar audience for our presentation.
